Football Friendly Match:
Vanguard FC – Tseminyu (Old Boys) vs Secretariat United FC @sectt_fc || IG Stadium, Kohima || 2PM || 16.02.19 || VFC Old Boys was officially launched today in the much-anticipated football friendly match played between VFC Old Boys and SUFC at the much hyped about newly-laid Astro turf pitch of IG Stadium with much excitement and fanfare.

The two non-professional but football frenzied sides began the match after a brief moment of pleasantries exchanged between the two sides in the spirit of friendship through football after the official launching of the club by the VFC Management Team as the third side under the umbrella of VFC, following the VFC senior team and youth team.

The match saw an exciting display of football, grit and determination by both sides inspite of the old tired legs and the frequent catch of breather. Things got interesting pretty early as the SUFC scored the opener in the first quarter of the match to take an early lead.

As the second half began, with multiple changes for both sides, the windy cold weather soon brought rapid rainfall throughout the 1st quarter of the second half, not only soaking the field and the players but also draining their energy levels. What followed as the rain receded was a good number of substitutions from both ends to bring in fresh energy to the game. Not longer after, the Old Boys converted from a corner by their striker Benjamin Tsela to level the game at 1-1. But SUFC took the lead again in the final 10 mins of the game as the Old Boys failed to clear the ball following a one-on-one save made by the Old Boy keeper Yhunkvulo Kath.

The game ended not long after with the SUFC from the Nagaland Civil Sectetariat emerging victorious at the end of 90 mins.

The two teams joined by the match officials shared a sumptuous dinner together to end the affairs for the day.

VFC Old boys will be kick-starting its MPL 2019 campaign on Monday with a match on the opening day of the season against the defending Champions, All Blacks. The match will be played at Seikazou ground at 6 AM.

The MPL will be played over a period of 18 weeks between 10 non-professional sides from the state capital.
